Founded in 1906, the National Western Stock Show is the nation's premier livestock, rodeo, and horse show, serving agricultural producers and consumers throughout the world. National Western is also the perfect kick-off of the PRCA rodeo season. Westernaires is honored to be a part of National Western, dating back to 1952. For more information about the history of Westernaires performing at the National Western, please enjoy the Westernaires Alumni Association's multi-part story here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.
"Interclub", as it's come to be called, is an opportunity for our youngest riders to show off their newly-gained equitation skills. It's also one of the rare occasions when Westernaire riders are asked to compete individually, rather than as a team.
All Tenderfoot- and Junior-level riders are grouped into classes by age and perform basic maneuvers that one might see in a Western equitation show (walk, trot, lope, reverse).
Independent judges select the top 5 riders from each class for ribbons. The top 3 riders from each class advance to the semi-final rounds. Eventually, the Top 5 riders for the entire club are crowned!
In between equitation classes, the audience is entertained by various specialty acts. The graduating Westernaires Seniors provide comic relief and pose with each classes' winners.
It doesn't get much more picturesque than Estes Park! But the views are just one of the countless reasons that Westernaires appreciates performing here each year.
Come see the Westernaires perform precision drills at speed, along with thrilling horse acrobatics, daring trick riding, trick and fancy roping, a Cavalry and Indian battle, liberty riding, a dressage exhibition, and much more. It's great family entertainment that frequently leaves the grandstands stomping their feet and clapping their hands with delight!
Shows are on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00PM.
General admission tickets are $10 and box seats are $15. Spectators under the age of three are admitted free. Tickets are available at the door, or online by clicking here. For more information, check out the Visit Estes Park website.
The Jeffco Fair and Festival is in its 4th year since its "reboot" and is gaining momentum and fandom at a rapid pace! Carnival rides, hit musical acts, special performances, mutton bustin', 4-H activities, and food galore are just a few of the attractions!
Adding to the excitement, Westernaires ground specialties provide entertainment to the attendees throughout the weekend, and the Westernaires ponies are on hand to give pony rides to the kids. Stay tuned for a detailed schedule.
