Strawberry Too

By Jasmine of Royal Rangers

I rode Strawberry this summer for team and he was excellent! Every week I would look forward to riding Strawberry in Royal.
Grooming him (as said before) is so easy! All he does is stand there and let you take care of business. When bridling him, I don't even have to put my fingers in his mouth for him to open it and since I'm a short person he puts his head down for me so I can slip the leather straps over his ears and adjust his brow band. His saddle is pretty heavy so if you have weak arm strength like me, you'll need to ask for some help.
He can be very tricky to catch in the pasture. He's so easy to find in the pasture because of his beautiful red roan color.
The thing I love most about Strawberry is his gaits. His trot is so smooth, his lope is just as great, and he listens to his rider very well. He has a fear of flags on the ground but when you are trying to flag him be patient and assertive with him. If you get lucky, he'll take the flag normally but wide-eyed and timid. Usually you have to get "one-on-one" treatment with the flag dad walking up to you with just one flag very carefully. After you get the flag on him, he's fine. Strawberry has a tendency of slowing down during a drill sometimes, but just kick him while being assertive and he'll go faster for you. He also has a bit of competitive blood in him - when you take off for the maneuver "Points In" for Star or Propeller, he usually tries to race the horse next to him, but he still lets you stay in control so you can slow him down. I can tell he tries hard to make you happy when you are riding him and I think it's a priviledge to ride him for team. I hope you get to ride Strawberry soon!

Strawberry is so amazing! Grooming him is as easy as walking.

The only bad thing about him is catching him. He will run away, unless you have a treat. Other than that, he is good.

Riding is perfect. His trot, walk and lope are so smooth!

I love him!
