Restrictions on Fort Visits, Fairground Hours, and Parking

Visiting the Fort is Restricted

It has long been the rule that visitors to Westernaires property are not welcome except when scheduled. If you do not have scheduled activity at the Fort or with a Westernaires sponsored event, you must not come to the Fort property. This is particularly true if you come during the week or on Sunday when there are no scheduled activities. Do not come to the Fort to visit the horses or to ride in the arenas which are located there. Fairgrounds arenas may be open to the public during the day, but Westernaires arenas are not to be used unless Westernaire activity is scheduled. Thank you for your cooperation.

Fairgrounds Locks Down

In response to the two recent burglaries at Westernaires, the Jefferson County Fairgrounds has instituted a lockdown of the Fairgrounds each night from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. No Westernaires activities are to continue past 9:00 p.m. so that the participants can all be off the Fairgrounds before the lockdown takes place. Can you imagine having to spend the night in your car on the Fairgrounds because you can't get out any gate?

Parking Areas Defined

Until the new indoor arena construction begins, parking will be in the areas on either side of the road leading to the Fort between the Fort and the Fairgrounds maintenance building. The front row on the east side of the road is reserved for automobiles and pickups without trailers. Vehicles pulling trailers may park on the west side of the road and on the east, behind the front automobile row. Everyone's cooperation will be appreciated. No vehicles are permitted up the road east of the Fort or in the Fort compound unless they have been previously authorized or in the event of a medical emergency.
